Corsair Announces New USB 3.0 Flash Drives

corsair-flash-voyager-64gb-06

Corsair, the worldwide designer of high quality computer products has this weekend announced they will be releasing new USB 3.0 versions of their hugely successful range of USB sticks the Flash Voyager GT, Flash Voyager and Flash Survivor lines.

The new Corsair line of USB 3.0 sticks are already proving to be some of the best USB sticks on the market. The Flash Voyager GT USB 3.0 gives a whopping four times the speed of regular USB 2.0 drives and up to two times the speed of the standard 3.0 flash drives. The 64GB version of the branded memory sticks has a top read speed of 135 MB/sec and a maximum write speed of 83MB/sec.

This new flash drive is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and when used in this way is one of the fastest USB 2.0 drives on the market. Its rubber design also makes the memory stick water proof and the housing makes it ideal for regular PC and USB users who need to quickly access important data and transport it in a safe and secure way.

Corsair have also taken into account the overall design of the product, making the Voyager USB stick just 73MM long (as compared to 100MM of their last product) and skinny 22M in width (in comparison to 26MM) giving the new models a much sleeker and slim design that is less cumbersome to carry and use than previous products.

The flash survivor USB 3.0 uses the same style that is tried and tested from previous models, with the anodized aircraft-grade aluminium shell being water proof to 200m and with the added feature of it being shock and vibration resistant to help further protect the stored data on your USB stick.

All three of the new models are backwards compatible to USB 2.0 and work directly with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux without the need for any drivers or special installations.

Corsair said about their new 3.0 models:

“Our new lines of USB 3.0 flash drives offer great choices for performance enthusiasts and on-the-go professionals.” said Thi La, Vice President of Memory Products at Corsair. “The Flash Survivor and Flash Voyager families are known for their ruggedness, reliability and superior ergonomics, and USB 3.0 speed makes them even better.”

Toshiba set to launch “value” 3D TV?

nota_TV3D_26 At IFA 2011 in Berlin Toshiba announced that they had a “wallet friendly” 3D TV Series soon to be launched. This, if true and if it was set to be launched soon would be a massive relief to consumers out there who wanted a 3D TV but couldn’t afford to buy one for themselves because of the price.

Also, there may be a glasses-less 3D TV soon to be launched which may be a cheaper TV than the ones that are already out on the market which then means that they will be much more affordable to your average Joe who wants to buy him, or herself a nice, snazzy, new 3D TV without burning a hole in your pocket.

Obviously lots of people would like to have the latest, flashiest and most up to date products in their house but not everyone can afford it so therefore a cheaper option, like the one that is in the pipeline from Toshiba, if they do get released soon then there could be plenty of happy people around!

Who knows, some more big name companies like Sony and Panasonic could jump on the bandwagon and start to release some of their own cheap, cost effective 3D TV’s and it could drive the prices down even further if there is more competition for the likes of Toshiba.

So who knows, there could a really cheap 3D TV just around the corner!

Apple set to announce TWO new handsets?

iPhone 5 Design

With the latest Apple conference set to take place tomorrow and the fact the invites were titled “Let’s talk iPhone” is a bit of a giveaway as to what they’re set to be announcing tomorrow.

The rumours have been rife over the last few months about whether we’re going to see a new iPhone or just a tweaked version of the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, but with people claiming to have “leaked” news about the imminent arrival of the iPhone 5 I think the vast majority of people would be surprised to see no iPhone 5 being released.

There are also “leaks” that there is going to be another iPhone device announced. There’s some photo’s doing the rounds from a factory in Brazil. In these pictures apparently is the new iPhone 4S device. This does wash seeing as the device in question does look pretty much exactly the same as the iPhone 4. Could we be seeing two new iPhones?

There are many out there who hope that Apple will be unveiling not one, but two new iPhone handsets. Obviously this would be a first for Apple as they have previously only released one handset at any one time, but there are a lot of things doing the rounds in the rumour mill that there’s going to be an iPhone 4S and 5 released. Also, someone out there is obviously a bit of a big iPhone fan, as they’ve made their own iPhone 5 prototype device.

They will also be talking a little bit about the new iOS which is no doubt going to be on the new handset. The new iOS in question is aptly named ‘iOS 5’ which you would think points to the fact that there’s going to be an iPhone 5 released.

Also, iTunes new beta version which is set to be released on Friday has leaked the iPhone 4S. In its description tag it has the product name ‘iPhone 4S’ which again may throw many people out there off as there’s no mention of the iPhone 5.

So it seems that there’s still no clear news as to what devices are going to be released, so I suppose all we’ll have to do now is wait. Not like we have to wait long though, it’s announced tomorrow!

No iPhone 5; Instead we got the iPhone 4S

iPhone 4S

Last week, Apple announced their latest handset, the iPhone 4S. People were somewhat disappointed with this announcement because everyone was expecting there to be a totally new, iPhone 5. Well sorry folks, we’re going to have to make do with a phone that looks exactly the same as the iPhone 4, it’s just a hell of a lot better!

Yes, it’s the same on the outside, but on the inside, under the bonnet it’s a totally different machine. The iPhone 4S comes with the all new Apple A5 Chipset, the main hub of the phone meaning that it is significantly faster than the iPhone 4. Another feature that the iPhone 4S has which sadly the very good iPhone 4 can’t boast is the 1080p HD recording. With its video stabilising, LED Flash and both photo and video geotagging it’s safe to say that the iPhone 4S has a lot more to offer on many more fronts.

With all the problems Apple had last year with the antenna problems when they released iPhone 4, this year with the iPhone 4S they have vastly improved signal quality as I imagine they don’t want a repeat of last year’s fiasco when they had to send out iPhone 4 bumpers to everyone who had purchased their new device.

One other thing on the iPhone 4S that is sure to capture the headlines is the new voice control software, Siri. For those of you who don’t know what exactly it does then you may or may not be blown away by it. It’s pretty much an app for your phone that means you can hold a conversation with it about anything from local restaurants to asking Siri to remind you to buy your wife a birthday card when you leave your workplace. Yes, it is that good that it knows when you leave work. For more on Siri see Apple’s YouTube video on how to use it and the things it is capable of here.

So all in all the iPhone 4S is no doubt a step up from the iPhone 4, but in theory it is only keeping up with the competition from the likes of Samsung and HTC. We do however expect to see many people lining the streets to buy their new handset when it is released later this week, especially seeing as though Apple managed to get people queuing outside their stores for a white version of a 9 month old phone!
